Planta™ Premium Plant Protein

Sweat is running down your face. You’re out of breath. As you begin panting for air, you feel an initial sense of satisfaction and slowly begin to smile.

Another workout in the books.

As you slowly make your way out of the gym you perform a ritual so many athletic enthusiasts do so often—you grab your shaker bottle and begin drinking your favorite protein.

Protein powder has been one of the most popular supplements on the market for decades. In fact, the origins of protein powder date back nearly 8,000 years when whey was discovered as a byproduct from cheesemaking.

Since then protein powder has transformed into several different iterations over the years. While the majority of protein powders have always been made from whey the tides have begun to turn as a new product has sprung onto the marketplace—vegan friendly protein.

Sure, vegan protein powders have existed in various forms over the years with less than stellar results.

The good news is there’s a new product on the market with both the taste, quality, and presence to stand-up against any competitor on the market.

Hi, I’m Sean Torbati. Over the years I’ve prided myself in going against the status quo. When others turned left, I made a sharp right. I’ve foraged my own path instead of taking the more travelled route and that’s exactly what I set out to do with—Ambrosia Planta.

Ambrosia Planta is a vegan plant protein made with organic pea protein, brown rice protein, and all-natural sweeteners. That’s it. No questionable fillers. No hidden sugars. Simply quality vegan protein that also happens to taste amazing.

What it Does

Most people are aware of the muscle building and recovery benefits associated with protein supplements. These products are meant to help enhance your workouts and and help you see results.

The problem—the vast majority of protein supplements contain whey

Why is this an issue you ask? Whey is a byproduct of milk. According to the US National Library of Medicine MORE than 65% of the human population has a reduced ability to digest lactose after infancy (1).

You’re not misreading that as there’s no missing decimals in that figure. Nearly two-thirds of the planet CAN’T properly digest lactose products.

So why are most of our protein products still made from whey (milk)?

Furthermore, recent research has proven that plant-based diets have numerous benefits including significant health improvements such as (11):

  • Better emotional well-being
  • Improved physical well-being
  • Lower rates of depression
  • Better quality of life
  • Healthy weight
  • Lower cholesterol and more

That’s why I set out to create a high-grade vegan-friendly protein without all the frills and fillers.

Planta contains:

  • 20g of protein and only 100 calories per serving
  • Only 2g of carbs and 1g of fat
  • No added sugar
  • Provides plant-based BCAA’s essential for building and maintaining muscle mass

Let’s take a look at each of the ingredients that help form this one-of-a-kind product.

Pea Protein

People have various reasons for following plant-based diets. While do it for the morality aspect, others tend to do it for their health. Following plant-based diets can help individuals live longer, healthier lives.

Another misconception about plant-based proteins is their efficacy. The truth is the science proves pea protein is JUST as effective as whey protein. In this brand new 2019 study, participants followed a high-intensity training program for 8-weeks and consumed 24g of either whey or pea protein both before and after exercise. Afterwards participants had their body composition, muscle thickness, performance and strength measured. The results declared NO noticeable differences between the two groups (2).

This study wasn’t a fluke either. Several other studies have replicated similar findings.

A 2015 study on 161 adult males consumed either pea protein, whey protein, or a placebo after training over a 12-week period. Muscle thickness was identical in both the whey and pea protein groups (3).

As you can see, plant-based pea protein is just as viable as whey protein for building muscle and increasing strength.

Brown Rice Protein

To give Planta a more complete amino acid profile I wanted to also add brown rice protein into the mix.

You might be thinking—isn’t that a carb?

Actually brown rice protein has also been able to stand-up against whey protein in scientific studies. A 2013 study on 24 college-aged, resistance trained men consumed 48g of rice or whey protein isolate following their training sessions (4).

The results? Once again no detectable differences between the two groups in terms of recovery, soreness, or ability to train.

A separate study looked at the post-exercise consumption of rice protein isolate and found it can increase recovery and elicit the same positive body composition changes as whey protein (5).

When you combine pea protein and brown rice protein together—the result is an unbeatable complete protein combination with an extremely balanced amino acid profile! With a blend of BCAAs packed with the most important branch chain amino acids—L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, and L-Valine in a 2:1:1 ratio, what’s not to love?

Monk Fruit

By now you might be asking yourself—OK this plant-based protein is a high-quality product but can it taste good without any added sugar?

Although it contains no artificial flavors or coloring we haven’t skimped on taste either.

We use monk fruit as one of our main sweeteners. It’s grown in Southeast Asia and was used by Buddhist monks in the 13th century. Monk fruit is about 200 times sweeter than sugar yet it has ZERO calories, ZERO carbs, and no sodium or fat.

A 2009 study found that monk fruit has the potential to be a natural sweetener with a low-glycemic index. It can also provide a positive health impact on stimulating insulin secretion (6).

Monk fruit is unique because it’s high in antioxidants known as mogrosides. Research conducted in 2013 showed that mogrosides may have antioxidant effects due to the regulation of genes involved in glucose metabolism (7).

Some research has even pointed to monk fruit to be a potential cancer prevention compound (8).

As you can see, monk fruit is an artificial sweetener that shows tremendous promise outside of it’s sweetening abilities.

Sucralose

We also use sucralose as a sweetener in Planta to improve the taste. Scientific research on sucralose has proven it to be safe, alternative sweetener to sugar according to several studies (9). Furthermore, it has been proven to no effect on insulin levels or appetite (10).
